Extract from the Personal Records Database (BRP)

Sometimes you need an extract from the Municipal Personal Records Database (BRP). For example, if you want to register for a home. Or if you want to transfer your car and you only have a foreign proof of identity.

A BRP extract contains your personal data:

your name
your address
your birthplace
your date of birth

Do you need proof of your birth, marriage or divorce, for example? Then request a civil status extract (in Dutch).

How do you apply for a BRP extract?

You request a BRP extract digitally.

Is it not possible for you to request an extract digitally? Then make an appointment. During the appointment you can visit yourself or someone you have authorized for this.

What do you need?

This depends on how you apply.

1. When you apply online, you need:

your DigiD
data for internet banking

You will receive the BRP extract by post within 5 working days.

2. If you come by, you first make an appointment to visit the town hall (in Dutch). You bring to the appointment:

a valid passport, valid identity card or valid driver's license
your debit card (or cash)

You will immediately receive the BRP extract.

3. If someone else helps you
You can authorize someone else to make the application for you. Then make an appointment for this person to make the application. You also write an authorization letter. In the letter you state:

why you need the extract;
your signature;
the name of the person you authorize to visit;
this person's signature.

The authorized person brings to the appointment:

your authorization letter
a copy of your valid passport, your valid identity card or your driver's license
his or her own passport or identity card

The authorized person receives the BRP extract immediately.

What are the costs for a BRP extract?

You pay €9.90 for a BRP extract.

For whom can you request a BRP extract?

You can request a BRP extract for yourself or for a child who lives with you and is younger than 18 years. Did someone authorize you to make the application? Then you can also request the extract for this person.

Can I request an international BRP extract?

Do you need an international BRP extract? You can request this digitally.

You can choose a translation into French, German and English or a translation into Spanish, Italian and Turkish.
